Last Great Day

Holy Days:
Last Great Day
by Martin G. Collins
Forerunner, "Bible Study," September-October 1996

This study concludes the series on God's annual holy days. We have seen that Passover, the first festival, memorializes Jesus' sacrifice for man. The Days of Unleavened Bread instruct Christ's disciples in holy conduct. Pentecost pictures God's Holy Spirit given to His church. The Feast of Trumpets warns mankind of impending war and the return of Jesus Christ. Atonement depicts Satan being restrained and man finally becoming one with God. The Feast of Tabernacles pictures Christ's thousand-year reign of unprecedented peace and prosperity.

The final festival is the Last Great Day. It looks forward to a time after the Millennium when an awesomely wonderful period of salvation will take place. During this time the majority of mankind—rich and poor, young and old, men and women—will be resurrected and have an opportunity to inherit eternal life. Billions will qualify to enter the God Family! On the other hand, those who will not repent, who will not submit to God and His way, will be cast into the Lake of Fire and die the second—eternal—death. What a fair and merciful God we have!

Muslim confiscates Christian Bible on Temple Mount

Jewish guards prevent Christians and Jews from exercising their religious right to pray on the Temple Mount? That's right! Only Muslims have unlimited access to Judaism's most holy site. Only the Koran is permitted within. The Tanach (Jewish Scripture, known to much of the world as the "Old Testament") and Christian Scriptures (the New Testament) are forbidden. Yet Israel claims to respect the religious rights of all people.

Jew Arrested on Temple Mount?

Jew Arrested on Temple Mount for Daring to Seem to be Praying

by Elad Benari

A Jewish man in his 30s, who took advantage of the holiday of Sukkot in order to visit the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, was arrested on Sunday morning simply because an Arab security guard suspected that he was praying during the tour of the complex.

David Ha'ivri, Executive Director of the Shomron Liaison Office, who was on the scene of the incident, told Arutz 7 what had taken place:

“At 7:30 this morning I had the privilege of going up to Temple Mount with 20 other Jews,” said Ha’Ivri and added that Israeli police officers as well as inspectors from the Waqf accompanied the Jews who took part in the tour of the area. Among their responsibilities, explained Ha’Ivri, is to ensure that no Jew violates the instructions he receives upon entering the complex, which include a prohibition to pray at Judaism's holiest site.

“After the checkpoint at the Mugrabi Gate, a police officer gives a list of guidelines in a cold and dry voice,” described Ha’Ivri. “Do not pray. Do not tear a garment. Do not prostrate yourself. It is forbidden to take any action that the Muslims may see as a religious act.

Priestly Blessing

Priestly Blessing in Pictures

by Maayana Miskin

Members of the Biblical priestly class, Kohanim, blessed tens of thousands of worshipers at the Kotel (Western Wall) on Sunday morning. The entire Kotel plaza filled with Jews seeking their blessing, and many more crowded balconies and streets overlooking the Wall.

The Kohanim blessed the crowd twice, once during the Shacharit (morning) service and again during Mussaf.

Kohanim are those related by direct patrilineal descent from the first High Priest of the Jewish people, Aharon, the brother of Moshe (Moses) . They blessed the congregants using the three Torah verses traditionally recited by Kohanim during the time of the First and Second Temples (Numbers 6:24-26).

Facebook: friend or foe?

By William Bowmer | Sabbath, September 25, 2010
Researchers have found that heavy users of the social networking site Facebook tend to be more insecure and self-absorbed than others who do not use the popular site. "Individuals higher in narcissism and lower in self-esteem spent more time on the site and filled their pages with more self-promotional content," according to a recent York University press release. Worldwide Church of God Feast of Tabernacles

The first time I visited Israel was with the Worldwide Church of God in 1980 to celebrate Sukkot -- the biblical Feast of Tabernacles. (Some Christians understand that Israel's harvest festival foreshadows the peace and prosperity that everyone will soon enjoy under the Messiah's golden rule). But that whirlwind experience only whet my appetite...

Chag Sukkot: Festival of Joy

Chag Sukkot: Festival of Joy

Tishrei 14, 5771/ September 22, 2010

The festival of Sukkot is referred to in our holiday prayers as zeman simchatenu, "the Season of Our Joy," and this of course derives from the scriptural commandment, "And you should rejoice before HaShem your G-d for seven days." (Leviticus 23:40) Indeed, there is an irrepressible joy that fills and overflows the heart of every sukkah dweller, from the first day of the seven day festival to the last. To fulfill the commandment of building a temporary dwelling, and then to immerse our entire physical and spiritual beings in it for seven full nights and days is the closest thing we experience today to being within the courtyards of the Holy Temple itself, and this, no doubt, is a source of the intense joy of the sukkah. It is also a timely reminder that, just as everyone builds his and her own sukkah, and nobody expects it to descend from the heavens, fully accoutred and beckoning us to enter it, we should not deceive ourselves that the Holy Temple itself will one day descend from heaven, ready for us to bless it with our presence. On the contrary, the G-d that has commanded us to build each year a sukkah is the very same G-d who has commanded us to "Build for Me a sanctuary that I may dwell amongst them." (Exodus 25:8)
Temple TalkTune in to this week's Temple Talk and join Rabbi Chaim Richman and Yitzchak Reuven in the annual Temple Talk Sukkot Extravaganza - just what you need to start the joyous festival of Sukkot. What is the secret of Sukkot joy? What were the original "booths" of the Children of Israel in the desert (Lev. 23:43) - real booths, or Divine clouds of glory? Yitzchak Reuven and Rabbi Richman can hardly wait to take up residence in their respective temporary dwellings, to enjoy the rarified atmosphere of basking in the Divine Presence and feeling the enveloping embrace. May the lessons learned from these "temporary dwellings" stay with us all through the coming year!
Living in the House of G-dThis week features the new Bat Melech video teaching with Rabbanit Rena Richman, entitled, "Living in the House of G-d: We emerge from seven weeks of soul searching, spiritual rebirth and reckoning and find ourselves victorious and stronger than ever. What better place for us to live, eat, sleep, breath and imbibe Torah for the next seven days and nights than our own heavenly sukkah made with our own hands out of leaves and branches, fabric and wood. Via our seven day sukkah sojourn we will emerge yet again, ready to march forward into our new year." Click here to view.
Over the Rainbow and into the SukkahToday also features the new Light to the Nations teaching by Rabbi Chaim Richman, entitled, "Living with G-d: Over the Rainbow and into the Sukkah: We all long for that perfect spot where bluebirds sing and all contradictions fade away. It can be attained, we can place ourselves on the other side of the rainbow, even in our own back yards, in the sukkot booths that we are commanded to build. Part cloud of glory and part earthly dwelling, our sukkot create for us a harmonious environment in which to dwell within G-d’s presence, the holy Shechina. Jews and Gentiles alike have a place in the sukkah." Click here to view.
Sukkot in the Holy TempleSukkot in the Holy Temple: As glorious as the festival of Sukkot is today, it is only a shadow of what it will be when the Holy Temple has been rebuilt and the Divine service renewed. Holidays or Holy Days - Does it Matter Which Days We Observe?

Table of Contents

Crucial Questions
Many people are shocked to discover the origins of our most popular religious holidays. They are also surprised to find that the days God commands us to observe in the Bible—the same days Jesus Christ and the apostles kept—are almost universally ignored. Why? Also, why are today's supposedly Christian holidays observed with so many rituals and customs that are not sanctioned anywhere in the Bible? In this booklet you'll discover detailed answers to these questions.

Christmas: The Untold Story
Christmas is one of the world's most popular holidays, celebrated by people of many faiths. Yet the holiday has a strange and convoluted past, one hinted at in such puzzling symbols as decorated trees, holly wreaths and mistletoe.

How Christmas Grew

Christmas vs. the Bible

Biblical Evidence Shows Jesus Wasn't Born on December 25

Easter: Masking a Biblical Truth

Many millions of people believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead on a Sunday morning. But do the Scriptures tell a different story? And how did rabbits and colored eggs come to be associated with Christ's resurrection?

The Resurrection Connection

Fertility Symbols: Beneath the Dignity of God

The Chronology of Christ's Crucifixion and Resurrection

Halloween: A Celebration of Evil
Why would anyone celebrate a holiday emphasizing the morbid and macabre? Where did such strange customs originate?

What About Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Purim?
An important distinction between acceptable holidays and those rooted in paganism (like Christmas and Easter) is that they do not alter, replace or distort the meaning of a festival of God or other biblical truths.

God's Days of Worship
Many are surprised to learn that the Bible nowhere encourages us to celebrate Easter and Christmas. It does, however, show that God revealed a series of festivals that teach mankind about His great plan for all of us!

God's Festivals in the New Testament

Does It Matter to God?
History shows that religious authorities systematically set aside the Bible's days of worship and substituted other practices and celebrations with distinctly non-Christian origins. Is God pleased and honored with such worship?

Yom Kippur at Sdot Yam

Tradition - even empty, hollow, shallow - has assisted Jewry to preserve this Day, however imperfectly; yet I also couldn't help but think of God & Kahane who might dismiss such "worship" as vain and such "devotions" as void. Liberal, Hellenist, humanists who have nothing to do with God and are ignorant of or deny His Word as a general rule, as hypocritical & unacceptable as professing Christianity on the pagan days of Christmas and Easter...

LCG Commentary: "Blasphemers and naysayers"

By Adam J. West | Tuesday, September 14, 2010
The world continues its toboggan slide into depravity, and, frankly, into the Great Tribulation. This is a stark reality, but one that we must realize and understand fully. We are living in the end times and the signs of this are becoming more evident and poignant with each passing day. Read more Read More

Mankind continues its Satanically inspired quest to -- unwittingly in some cases -- support Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche’s claim that “God is dead.” Others are saying that God, in the form of Jesus Christ, anyway, never existed -- while some even slander the Son of God openly, and pop culture is latching on, “hook, line, and sinker.”

A documentary movie titled, “The God Who Wasn’t There,” has recently been released. It’s not only an attack on Christianity; it’s a full-scale war against the idea that Jesus Christ even existed.  It’s designed to undermine the faith of those who believe that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was real, that He walked the earth as a human being, and that He gave His life for the sins of mankind.

The movie’s producers say that the story of Christ’s life fits the ancient mold of “the hero pattern,” which they also identify in many other belief systems.  And they present other common criticisms of the Bible and its concepts and tenets.  Promotional text on the movie’s website proclaims:
The taboo-shattering documentary that Newsweek says, “irreverently lays out the case that Jesus Christ never existed.”
If we haven’t already, we all need to begin the quest to answer the ultimate question, “Does God exist?” Reading the booklet The Real God: Proofs and Promises is an excellent place to start.

There are others who, while not denying Jesus’ existence, terribly distort who and what He is. In a Parade Magazine interview, February 17, 2010, the pop singer Elton John said:
I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel...
The better question might be: What brings a person to this depth of blasphemy and lack of biblical understanding in his mind?

The thought of Christ being homosexual is not even worth commenting on, it is so ludicrous. But, because some say that Christ never spoke directly against homosexuality, I feel compelled to address the issue. Christ was the God of the Old Testament (1 Corinthians 10:1-4) and condemned homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22). We need to prove these things for ourselves... we are without question living in the end times, and time is short. Elton John’s comments are indicative of the depravity of this society.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 states:
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Elton John is slinging blasphemous mud at Jesus Christ, the Savior of all mankind. But who really is behind all this? There is a spirit war going on and Satan, the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2), continues to step up his game in deceiving society (Revelation 12:9). He is the real culprit, instilling doubt and cynicism at an unprecedented worldwide scale. We have to be ready; we must be prepared to combat in our own minds these onslaughts against the Bible, and against the very concept of Christ Himself.

Naysayers are launching an all-out attack on Christ, and railing blasphemous statements against Him. How much do we need God’s Kingdom, ruled by Jesus Christ, to come? He will, without question, set these matters straight!

Ohio Mosque Promotes Murder!

I repeated the "spiritual lesson" to the imam and asked him if the Muslims had any such saying. He replied that the Jews create such spurious sayings in order to discredit Islam and Arabs. I then shocked him, and the audience, when I asked: "If that's not a Muslim story, and is spurious and created by the Jews, then why would you, as the leader of this Islamic community permit that very story to be published in your newsletter last month?" Violence is the answer!

Living Church of God Commentary: Violence is not the answer
Many people have the idea that God loves war and is a bloodthirsty, violent God. What these critics fail to understand is that the true God of the Bible is actually a God of peace. Read more

The Bible condemns senseless violence, however the God of War will enforce peace through strength, won't He? The Prince of Peace will speak in the only language some seem to understand. Why pretend otherwise? Why try to be more righteous than God?

The God of Jacob will force folks to learn His ways or else. After all, He's going to rule with a rod of iron - not a pussy willow; He's the Lion of God, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah - not some pussy.

Violence, as necessary, is the answer and it is called for in the Law of Moses. The wise know to make this biblical distinction (Ezekiel 44:23).

Exodus 15:3
The LORD is a man of war; The LORD is His name.

Psalm 2:9
You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.

Revelation 2:27
‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’

Zechariah 14
16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain. 18 If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

War, Europe (European Army)

Newsletter 2010/09/09 - War, Europe's Backbone

BERLIN/BRUSSELS (Own report) - Politicians in Berlin are using the German imposed dictate of EU austerity to renew the demand for the creation of an EU Army. The strict application of the so-called stability criteria, put through by the German government, imposes drastic austerity measures on all EU member states, which could even cut into their military budgets, according to Berlin. This cannot be achieved except at the expense of a loss of military power, unless steps are taken toward consolidating all of the individual armed forces in Europe using the synergic effects to reinforce the united European army. Berlin has been pursuing this objective for years, confronting - at times open - resistance inside the EU as well as from the United States. Germany has been pushing these plans to enhance its position - with military means - in the new constellation of global forces being created by China's rise to become a world power. The German liberal press explains that a combat-ready EU Army would "almost be like a new backbone for Europe."

Islam is evil!

Will Providence permit foreign murderers in our midst (in attitude, if not yet in action) to unleash nuclear fires within our major cities? Will militant minorities work with them against us? Won't our British-Israelite brethren suffer the same within their respective biblical inheritances?

I repeated the "spiritual lesson" to the imam and asked him if the Muslims had any such saying. He replied that the Jews create such spurious sayings in order to discredit Islam and Arabs. I then shocked him, and the audience, when I asked: "If that's not a Muslim story, and is spurious and created by the Jews, then why would you, as the leader of this Islamic community permit that very story to be published in your newsletter last month?" He was speechless.

Toledo, Islam, and Terrorists
One day they purposely showed me a newsletter from the Islamic Center in Perrysburg that had a story from the Haddith -- saying attributed to Mohammad -- that spoke of a war in the last days between Jews and Muslims, and how Jews would hide behind trees and the trees would say, "There's a Jew behind me, kill him!" except for one tree that would shelter the Jews.
It's sad to see some pull the veil over the eyes of innocent Americans with disarming and deceitful portrayals of Islam as well-assimilated and innocuous. Let the rest of the story be told

Rosh Hashana Greetings from the Temple Institute 5771

The Temple Institute wishes to all our friends and supporters, to all the House of Israel, and to all who love the G-d of Israel, a very sweet new year.

It's none of the government's business!

"It is not the business of government to make men virtuous or religious, or to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly. Government should be repressive no further than is necessary to secure liberty by protecting the equal rights of each from aggression on the part of others, and the moment governmental prohibitions extend beyond this line they are in danger of defeating the very ends they are intended to serve."

"One of the most profound and exciting times of my life"

Rob Acquroff from Australia writes in response to Kibbutz Dan photos -

Hi, I was a volunteer on Kibbutz Dan in 1972, I left just prior to the October War. I spent 3 months there and I was 20 years old. There were about 50 volunteers on the Kibbutz at the time from all over the world. It was one of the most profound and exciting times of my life, full of new experiences, interesting travel and all mixed in with hard work and meeting new people. I am not Jewish but had been attracted to kibbutz life since learning about it at school in Australia where I grew up and still reside. If you still keep in contact with the families of Kibbutz Dan please pass on my regards and tell them of the very fond memories I have of my time there.

Living Church of God Commentary: "In pastures green"

By Davy Crockett | Tuesday, September 07, 2010
In this time when we are all being urged to "go green" in every part of our daily lives, we may lose sight of the word picture painted in the 23rd Psalm, which is probably the most oft quoted Psalm in the Bible. I like the way it is expressed in the old English hymn by William Havergal, a well-known writer of hymns (1793-1870).

Successful Economic Policies? For Whom?

 Congressman Paul's Texas Straight Talk

“Last week, in the wake of another uptick in the official unemployment rate, the administration continued to claim that their economic policies were working, just not fast enough.  This administration inherited an unemployment rate of 7.7% and promised a peak of no higher than 8% if their policies were followed.  Not only does the administration have a funny way of ending a war, but now they claim their economic policies are successful.  For whom, I wonder?”

Living Church of God Commentary: The quiet life

The quiet life

Almost any time of the day, you can open your front door and get slammed in the face with a noisy, busy world based on false values and false education.  Bravely, we say we aren’t really affected by what’s going on in the world.  We can even claim that “we aren’t really part of what the world’s about these days.”

Losing the war on AIDS or losing foolish donors?

Africa: Still Losing the War on AIDS
By Tomorrow’s World News Bureau
From Cape of Good Hope to southern edge of the Sahara, AIDS is gaining by leaps and bounds. Unaids, the United Nations agency charged with fighting the epidemic, reports that for every 100 people being treated, 250 are newly infected. Why is this deadly disease intensifying its spread, and what if anything can be done to stop it?

It appears Tomorrow's World News Bureau has become another victim of the AIDS scam, assuming HIV causes AIDS when there is no concrete medical proof (as I've reminded my infectious disease doctor). Perhaps donor nations (and individuals) are down because they're suffering Africa fatigue. When isn't the Dark Continent constantly suffering from war or starvation? Many now realize that much of the money and concern has been dumped into a Black Hole (the coffers of the leaders of those nations who are supposedly being helped, the corrupt UN and the AIDS industry - the pharmaceutical companies) and basically benefits those promoting Africa's latest "crisis" and wonder why we should care more about Africa than they do, especially when we have plenty of our own people who could use our help and have it accounted for responsibly.

Here are a few resources to consider and come to a more balanced view:

"Great principles of freedom and the rights of man..."

"We must never cease to proclaim in fearless tones the great principles of freedom and the rights of man which are the joint inheritance of the English-speaking world and which through Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, the Habeas Corpus, Trial by Jury, and the English common law, find their most famous expression in the American Declaration of Independence."
-- Winston Churchill
(1874-1965) Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
