(IsraelNN.com) A Jewish bride and her father were arrested on the Temple Mount the day before her wedding, after an Arab policeman claimed he saw the father muttering prayers and the bride nodding her head.
The father and daughter were being taken around the site on Wednesday morning by her brother Eli, a volunteer who conducts regular tours at the Temple Mount, when suddenly they were accosted by the Jerusalem policeman.
“We were in the northern part, and I was showing them the archaeological evidence when suddenly a police officer came over to us, Mahmoud Hativ was his name, and h claimed that my father had muttered prayers. “We tried to argue with him and said it wasn’t true, but he said, ‘You can’t fool me,’ and insisted that my father had prayed,” Eli told Israel National News.
“My sister was just standing there silently, not moving at all. She didn’t say a word. It was her first time at the Mount. Other cops came over, Mahmoud said that she had also been involved, and they decided to arrest them both,” he continued. “He let me go right away, because he couldn’t make any claim against me.” His sister and father were taken to the Kishla police station near the Jaffa Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem.
‘Lack of Will to Exercise Israeli Sovereignty’
“The fact that a father comes to the holiest place of the Jewish people and can be arrested simply for allegedly moving his lips is an outrage,” Eli said.
“The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that the holy sites of all religions have to be protected and respected – that explicitly includes the rights of Jews on the Temple Mount. Jerusalem police continue to ignore that ruling.”
Asked if he believes U.S. pressure on Israel to make concessions to the Palestinian Authority had anything to do with the incident, Eli said, ‘No. It is a result of the lack of will of the Jerusalem police to exercise Israeli sovereignty over the Jewish holy places in Jerusalem, not U.S. pressure on Israel. It is unheard of to arrest someone just for praying in their own religion. In the U.S. that wouldn’t fly. There is no public place in the U.S. where a Jew could not pray. It is unfortunate, and sad.”
The family, which immigrated to Israel from New York in 1996, lives in Beit Shemesh.
‘Police Misled Them to Sign Confession’
The two were held for several hours. At approximately 11:30 a.m., the two were ordered to sign a declaration which they were told said they would promise not to return to the Temple Mount for 15 days.
However, the father, who spoke with Israel National News from the courtyard of the police station while waiting to be questioned by the police commander, said that further examination of the paper showed they had been misinformed. The declaration actually said that they were confessing to have violated a law about disturbing the public order.
It was also made equally clear that if they did not sign the paper, they might not be freed for hours – perhaps not even in time for the young woman to make it to her own wedding.
Officers at Jaffa Gate Station Mocked the Bride
“The police officers talked very improperly to my daughter. She was very upset – in tears – and they ridiculed her. ‘What’s the matter, are you baby?’ they mocked her.” Her father immediately fired back, “That’s how you talk to someone?”
The father said that the officer in charge threatened to keep them longer in response. “Be careful,” the cop warned. “If you talk to me that way, I can keep you here for a few more hours.”

This is what you deserve! Of course this whole situation, the latest episode, is an outrage. But it is to be expected when Jews and Israelis insanely tolerate the Muslim occuption of their ALLEGED most holy site. Supposedly it's the third most holy site to the Muslims and yet they care more for it than most Jews and Israelis! The common knowledge of our time is that the vast majority of Rabbis of this generation have prohibited the Jewish people from entering the Temple Mount (Har HaBayit), the holiest site in Judaism. The Temple Mount Faithful Feast of Tabernacles Celebration - 5769/2008
In the midst of a critical time of redemption in Israel -- and during a very complicated time of trouble all over the world, the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement held one of its most exciting events in its campaign to build the Third Temple in our lifetime. Now, more than any other time in the past, our materialistic generation needs the G-d of Israel to dwell in the midst of our daily lives. This generation needs the light of G-d to shine into the darkness that is now spreading to the four corners of the earth. As was prophesied through the prophets of Israel, G-d chose this time to bring about His plans with Israel in order to begin the endtime redemption of the entire world.
In a time when so many people in the world are searching and seeking after materialistic achievements and serving the "Golden Calf", the Faithful Movement has been involved in intensive endtime activities. We have been seeking the spirit, the morals, the values and the word of the G-d of Israel. We have been demonstrating for the rebuilding of His Holy House in Jerusalem and for the coming of Mashiach Ben David in our lifetime.
This most recent event took place on Thursday, 17 Tishrei 5769/October 16, 2008, during the Feast of Succoth -- the Feast of Tabernacles.
The Succoth Festival is one of the most exciting holidays in the life of Israel. It is one of the three festivals during which G-d commanded Israel to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, to His Holy Temple. He called Israel to come that they would know His love for His people, and that they would show their love to Him. In this festival G-d calls His people to be filled with joy in the land that He gave them in an eternal covenant. As we marched to the Temple Mount on this day, we felt the Spirit of G-d covering us with great love. We felt like we were in heaven when we walked on the Holy Ground, the most holy place in all the world. This is the same place where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, King David, King Solomon and all the prophets of Israel, along with many millions of Israelites, walked to show their love to their Father G-d. This is also the festival during which King Solomon completed the building of the First Temple. He dedicated and anointed it in an exciting ceremony, during which the Ark of the Covenant was brought up from the Tent of David and located in the Holy of Holies, on the Holy Rock of Abraham and Isaac (1 Kings 7:51; 8:12).
On the Temple Mount we could feel that time is short. We knew that the day of the rebuilding of the Temple is soon to come. Gershon Salomon called on the people of Israel to prepare themselves for this great day. He called upon them to stop praying and worshiping in the front of the Western Wall. He said to the people of Israel that G-d can no more accept the prayers outside of His Holy Hill.
He called the leadership of Israel to remove the pagan Muslim enemy and his shrines from the Holy Mountain of G-d, and to do it without delay. This is the call of G-d at this time, and we must answer His call without delay.
From the Temple Mount the Faithful, together with many Israelis and friends from outside of Israel, marched to the ancient City of David. We marched to the historic Pool of Siloam that was re-discovered a year ago. This pool and the accompanying tunnel were dug by King Hezekiah 2,800 years ago. This march renewed an exciting event that was celebrated by our forefathers during the Feast of Succoth, in the time of the First and Second Temple. At that time, thousands of pilgrims marched from the Temple to the Pool of Siloam to draw the Holy Water from the pool, while offering prayers to the G-d of Israel. They then marched back to the Temple to pour out the water on the altar, and to pray for a blessed year with much rain for the crops. This exciting event is described in the historical sources as the most joyful and most exciting event in the lives of the people of Israel:
"All the streets of Jerusalem were lit up with many lights. The High Priest and all the other priests, dressed in their beautiful garments, walked in front of the pilgrims, together with the King of Israel. The priests were followed by the Levities playing on the musical instruments, playing and singing songs. Jerusalem was emptied of people as they joined the marchers and danced all the way from the Temple to the pool."
The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement renewed this exciting event. The City of David, which again is being settled by Israelis, experienced this joyful and exciting event after being destroyed almost two thousand years ago. The surrounding mountains were once again witnesses to great godly events carried out by the children of Israel. They watched as the G-d of Israel regathered them back to the Holy Land and to Jerusalem, to rebuild His House and His Holy Kingdom.
The traditional ceremony at the Pool of Siloam started when a priest with the Faithful Movement drew the water using vessels that were especially made for use in the soon coming Third Temple. This was then followed by prayers, songs of the psalms and thanks to the G-d of Israel Who gave us the privilege of living in such an exciting generation.
After this joyful ceremony the Faithful marched again to the Temple Mount, carrying the water that was drawn from the pool, just as our forefathers had done. The water was poured on a large group of heavy stones which had been thrown down by the Romans when they destroyed the Temple in 70 CE. This is only a temporary measure; we will do everything we can to make sure that on the next Feast of Tabernacles the water will be poured on the altar in the rebuilt Temple, exactly as our forefathers did.
The Revival of the Holy Assembly of "Hakhel"
One of the most holy events held in the Temple was the "Holy Assembly of Hakhel". This assembly was held every seven years on the Feast of Tabernacles, after the "Smitah" year was finished ("Smitah" is the sabbatical year of the ground, when fields are left fallow every seventh year). It was a very exciting and holy event. Hundreds of thousands pilgrims, along with all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, gathered on the Temple Mount and inside the Temple. They would listen to the High Priest as he read the Commandments of G-d from the book of Deuteronomy, in the Holy Torah.
The event of "Hakhel" was one of the most exciting events during the times the Temple stood. Every one could feel the presence of the G-d of Israel so strongly, just as if G-d Himself was speaking to His beloved people Israel. The desire today of the people of Israel for the rebuilding of the House of G-d is also an expression of desire to once again experience this most exciting godly event.
From its very beginning, the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement decided to renew the events that are connected with the worship in the Temple so that we shall be ready to fulfill all of them when the Temple is rebuilt. The event of "Hakhel" was an important step towards this fulfillment. Because we could not do it this year on the Temple Mount, we held the event in front of the walls of the Temple Mount and the stones of the Temple itself. Our faces were directed to the Holy of Holies as we read the Commandments of Deuteronomy with great excitement. Two thousand years after the destruction of the Temple, the G-d of Israel could hear His People Israel reading His Word, with prayers that came from the bottom of their hearts. These were prayers for the rebuilding of the Temple in our lifetime, and for holding this exciting godly event next year in the right place, in the rebuilt Temple. We would like to present some of the Commandments that were heard at the Holy Hill of G-d on this special event of the Faithful Movement. Hopefully, this will express the godly atmosphere that covered us with love and blessed our hearts:
"You stand this day all of you before the LORD your GOD; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Yisra'el, your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood to the drawer of thy water; that thou shouldst enter into the covenant of the LORD thy GOD, and into his oath, which the LORD thy GOD makes with thee this day: that he may establish thee today for a people to himself, and that he may be to thee a GOD, as he has said to thee, and as he has sworn to thy fathers, to Avraham, to Yizhaq, and to Ya'aqov. Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath; but with him that stands here with us this day before the LORD our GOD, and also with him that is not here with us this day" (Deuteronomy 29:9-14)
"Hear, O Yisra'el: The LORD our GOD; the LORD is one. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently to thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy arm, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the doorposts of thy house, and on thy gates." (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
"For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your GOD, to walk in all his ways, and to hold fast to him; then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves. Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness to the Levanon, from the river, the river Perat, to the uttermost sea shall be your border. There shall no man be able to stand against you: for the LORD your GOD shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that you shall tread upon, as he has spoken to you" (Deuteronomy 11:22-25)
"For thou art a holy people to the LORD thy GOD: the LORD thy GOD has chosen thee to be a special people to himself, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, or choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples: but because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, has the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Par'o king of Mizrayim. Know therefore that the LORD thy GOD, he is GOD, the faithful GOD, who keeps covenant and troth with those who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; and repays them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hates him, he will repay him to his face. Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them" (Deuteronomy 7:6-11)
This Word of G-d has a special significance at this time for all the nations in the world that still do not recognize and accept the godly event of the rebirth of Israel in the Land of Israel. These nations do not accept that G-d gave Israel this land by an eternal covenant for an eternal purpose: to be a holy nation, a kingdom of priests and a light to the nations (Exodus 19:5-6). This is the answer to all of those who want to divide the land of Israel and Jerusalem, and to establish a foreign anti-godly so-called "Palestinian State" of terror that will destroy the kingdom of Israel. This is also a lesson to the people of Israel to not trust any nation, power or human being; instead they must trust only in G-d, exactly as He called them to do. He promised to stand and protect them and to give them eternal life.
The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement will continue her godly campaign to build the endtime Temple of G-d on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem; and to remove from the Temple Mount -- without delay -- the pagan enemy of G-d and the people of Israel. The Faithful Movement will continue to educate the people of Israel to be a biblical nation in order that it will fulfill the mission that G-d gave them. Everyone in Israel and all over the world is called at this godly and critical time to give his hands, help, and support, and to stand with and participate in the historical campaign of the Temple Mount Faithful Movement.

On Hanukkah, December 2008, the Temple Mount Faithful Movement will hold a very special and exciting event. This event will start at the ancient city and tombs of the Maccabees in Modi'in (25 miles from Jerusalem) and continue all the way to Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. We shall bring to mind the heritage of the Maccabees, who liberated the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and all of the Land of Israel from the control of the pagan Greeks. They purified the Temple and renewed the Holy worship to the G-d of Israel. This will be a lesson to the people of Israel and to all the world. More details and date will be shared later. After this joyful ceremony the Faithful marched again to the Temple Mount, carrying the water that was drawn from the pool, just as our forefathers had done. The water was poured on a large group of heavy stones which had been thrown down by the Romans when they destroyed the Temple in 70 CE. This is only a temporary measure; we will do everything we can to make sure that on the next Feast of Tabernacles the water will be poured on the altar in the rebuilt Temple, exactly as our forefathers did.
The Revival of the Holy Assembly of "Hakhel"
One of the most holy events held in the Temple was the "Holy Assembly of Hakhel". This assembly was held every seven years on the Feast of Tabernacles, after the "Smitah" year was finished ("Smitah" is the sabbatical year of the ground, when fields are left fallow every seventh year). It was a very exciting and holy event. Hundreds of thousands pilgrims, along with all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, gathered on the Temple Mount and inside the Temple. They would listen to the High Priest as he read the Commandments of G-d from the book of Deuteronomy, in the Holy Torah.
The event of "Hakhel" was one of the most exciting events during the times the Temple stood. Every one could feel the presence of the G-d of Israel so strongly, just as if G-d Himself was speaking to His beloved people Israel. The desire today of the people of Israel for the rebuilding of the House of G-d is also an expression of desire to once again experience this most exciting godly event.
From its very beginning, the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement decided to renew the events that are connected with the worship in the Temple so that we shall be ready to fulfill all of them when the Temple is rebuilt. The event of "Hakhel" was an important step towards this fulfillment. Because we could not do it this year on the Temple Mount, we held the event in front of the walls of the Temple Mount and the stones of the Temple itself. Our faces were directed to the Holy of Holies as we read the Commandments of Deuteronomy with great excitement. Two thousand years after the destruction of the Temple, the G-d of Israel could hear His People Israel reading His Word, with prayers that came from the bottom of their hearts. These were prayers for the rebuilding of the Temple in our lifetime, and for holding this exciting godly event next year in the right place, in the rebuilt Temple. We would like to present some of the Commandments that were heard at the Holy Hill of G-d on this special event of the Faithful Movement. Hopefully, this will express the godly atmosphere that covered us with love and blessed our hearts:
"You stand this day all of you before the LORD your GOD; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Yisra'el, your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood to the drawer of thy water; that thou shouldst enter into the covenant of the LORD thy GOD, and into his oath, which the LORD thy GOD makes with thee this day: that he may establish thee today for a people to himself, and that he may be to thee a GOD, as he has said to thee, and as he has sworn to thy fathers, to Avraham, to Yizhaq, and to Ya'aqov. Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath; but with him that stands here with us this day before the LORD our GOD, and also with him that is not here with us this day" (Deuteronomy 29:9-14)
"Hear, O Yisra'el: The LORD our GOD; the LORD is one. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently to thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy arm, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the doorposts of thy house, and on thy gates." (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
"For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your GOD, to walk in all his ways, and to hold fast to him; then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves. Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness to the Levanon, from the river, the river Perat, to the uttermost sea shall be your border. There shall no man be able to stand against you: for the LORD your GOD shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that you shall tread upon, as he has spoken to you" (Deuteronomy 11:22-25)
"For thou art a holy people to the LORD thy GOD: the LORD thy GOD has chosen thee to be a special people to himself, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, or choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples: but because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, has the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Par'o king of Mizrayim. Know therefore that the LORD thy GOD, he is GOD, the faithful GOD, who keeps covenant and troth with those who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; and repays them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hates him, he will repay him to his face. Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them" (Deuteronomy 7:6-11)
This Word of G-d has a special significance at this time for all the nations in the world that still do not recognize and accept the godly event of the rebirth of Israel in the Land of Israel. These nations do not accept that G-d gave Israel this land by an eternal covenant for an eternal purpose: to be a holy nation, a kingdom of priests and a light to the nations (Exodus 19:5-6). This is the answer to all of those who want to divide the land of Israel and Jerusalem, and to establish a foreign anti-godly so-called "Palestinian State" of terror that will destroy the kingdom of Israel. This is also a lesson to the people of Israel to not trust any nation, power or human being; instead they must trust only in G-d, exactly as He called them to do. He promised to stand and protect them and to give them eternal life.
The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement will continue her godly campaign to build the endtime Temple of G-d on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem; and to remove from the Temple Mount -- without delay -- the pagan enemy of G-d and the people of Israel. The Faithful Movement will continue to educate the people of Israel to be a biblical nation in order that it will fulfill the mission that G-d gave them. Everyone in Israel and all over the world is called at this godly and critical time to give his hands, help, and support, and to stand with and participate in the historical campaign of the Temple Mount Faithful Movement.

Why Israel Should Demolish the 'Al-Aksa Mosque
The "new Middle East" about which Shimon Peres was so fond of talking is supposed to come about by having Israel give territory to the Palestinian Arabs on which they create a state. Their grievances thus addressed, hostilities would cease. This strategy of concession and appeasement assumes that peace with the Arabs is in Israel's hands. It has never worked. It did not work during Oslo, at the 2000 negotiations, or in Gaza. The recent war in Lebanon put the final nail in its coffin. In spite of the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon in 2000, with a UN seal of approval, Hezbollah launched an unwarranted attack in an act of war on Israel from Lebanon, abducting two of her soldiers, and demanding the return of the Sheeba Farms to a Lebanon which never claimed them and against international law. By the time the war was over, a feckless UN force was again sitting on Israel's border with Lebanon, preparing a future for a rearmed Hezbollah and complicating Israel's capacity for retaliation. Even regimes like Egypt, which has signed a peace treaty with Israel, continue to aid and abet the filthy racism and terror that characterizes the Arab and Muslim world's stance toward the only Jewish state on the planet.
It turns out that what the Arabs think is very important, because what they think, and not what the Israelis do, is what counts. Their version of reality is rooted in a society that socializes its children to lie as a way of life, treats women as chattel, resists modern ideas, idealizes cruelty and death, and marks infidels for annihilation or conversion. That the murderous hostility Arabs and Muslims harbor towards the West and Israel cloaks itself in the language of a struggle for rights and against colonialism and imperialism ought not to delude anyone. Their conflict is with modern society, i.e., western civilization.
But apparently it does, for western public opinion, notably in Europe, as well as western opinion-and-policymakers are overwhelmingly anti-Israel, fuelling a Palestinian intransigence which wraps itself in the halo reserved for victims of oppression.
Every Israeli withdrawal in the absence of any compromise also fuels this intransigence, making the prospect of peace more distant. Thus the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza was not much different from the 1929 British-enforced evacuation of the Jews from Hebron in its impact on the minds of the Palestinian Arabs of the day. They concluded that their grievances were legitimate and they could obtain satisfaction by a relentless campaign of terror and intimidation.
It is time, therefore, for Israeli policy to change course. Israel should take seriously the Palestinian and wider Arab and Muslim narrative about Israel and the Jews and frame its policy accordingly. This means recognizing that Israel is at war with its Arab neighbors, and now the wider Muslim world. Israel must persevere in fighting this war by any and all means, with unrelenting purpose and persistence. It means recognizing that there is nothing Israel can do to induce this enemy to make peace if the enemy does not choose to do so. No compromise by Israel is going to bring peace any closer because its enemy is not interested in compromise. Israel's existence is for them the problem. Palestinian leaders are not interested in a Palestinian state alongside Israel. Their idea of a Palestinian state is one that will replace the Jewish one. Muslim doctrine holds that once Muslims have ruled a country it belongs to them forever. If they lose it, it remains occupied territory to be reclaimed. When the Palestinians talk about the "occupation" they mean Israel itself. They take in these notions with their mothers' milk. This is why even secular Arab leaders have no trouble allying themselves with religious clerics and melding their political dreams with those of a restored caliphate that would cover the entire Arab nation and then the world.
A key element in the Palestinian denial of Jewish claims to Israel focuses on Jerusalem itself, and especially on the Temple Mount. Both sermons in mosques and television broadcasts repeat the charges that the Jews have no historic connection to Jerusalem, that the Jews who inhabited ancient Israel were not Jews, and that the Second Temple destroyed by the Romans did not exist. The Jewish claim to the Temple Mount as a holy site is dismissed as pure fabrication. Significantly, the name of the current round of Palestinian terror unleashed in 2000 is the 'Al-Aksa Intifada, just as the Fatah terrorist brigades go by the name of 'Al-Aksa Martyrs. Yaser Arafat used to revel in delirious tirades to his Palestinian audience that they were marching to Jerusalem by the millions, a phrase he would incant over and over as he posed as protector of Muslim holy sites. The liberation of Jerusalem goes hand in hand with the vilification of Jews as interlopers, foreigners, and vagabonds who have to be expelled. This goal weds Palestinian and Arab nationalism to Muslim eschatology, uniting the vast Arab nation and the wider Muslim world in a state of permanent war against Israel.
Israel responds by banning Jews from the Temple Mount on Tisha Be'Av, the day Jews mourn the destruction of their Second Temple in 70 C.E., the one that supposedly never existed, out of fear of the violence that might erupt. And long before the Oslo Accords, Israel had given the Muslim religious authority, the Waqf, control over the Temple Mount, allowing Jordan a role in its supervision; the same Jordan that systematically desecrated Jewish holy sites when it controlled the area before 1967.
The first step in Israel's new approach to her Arab enemies must be the belated recognition that she faces an enemy engaged in an ongoing war and that appeasement leads to increased violence. The best tactic to use in signaling this recognition must involve some action since the enemy sees the world quite concretely. The most logical place to start would be with the 'Al-Aksa mosque. That mosque, built as it is atop Judaism's most sacred shrine, is the embodiment of the Arab project to annihilate the Jews. It stands as the symbol par excellence of the Arabs' genocidal intent against the Jews, used to negate the very existence of the Jewish people now and historically. By blowing up the 'Al-Aksa mosque and then without hesitation rebuilding the Temple, Israel reasserts its right to exist in the only language understood by those poised to destroy it. It sends this message: We are now finally taking everything you do and say literally. You rocket our cities, murder our children and openly long for our destruction chanting "death to the Jews". We hear you! We recognize you as the totalitarian enemy you are and so we must wage war against you to survive. Indeed, in the face of such aggression we have but one response: Your unconditional surrender.
There are, of course, a number of corollaries to such a change of policy, all of which are unpalatable to democracies, but unfortunately necessary for their survival. One is that Israel will no longer tolerate any attacks on its population or its territory. They will be met with overwhelming force and lead, ultimately, to the military occupation of Gaza and the West Bank. In the course of the military operations such a policy would entail, Israel can make no distinction between civilian and military combatants on the Palestinian side, since the Palestinians themselves make no such distinctions. Israel will not apologize for any consequences of its military operations, nor will it suspend them because of so-called innocent civilian casualties. It will regret all deaths that will inevitably ensue, both among Israelis and among Palestinians, because such is the Jewish tradition and the response of a democratic mindset to which the Jewish tradition has contributed.
Even at the Red Sea, Jehovah is reputed to have rebuked his angels for celebrating when the Egyptians were drowning as the parted waters returned. The Arabs have never taken seriously former Prime Minister Golda Meir's quip about the one thing Israelis will not forgive the Arabs: namely, that in order to defend their homeland Israelis have had to oblige their children to kill the Arabs' children. Like the Israeli withdrawals from Lebanon and Gaza, the Arabs mistake such regret for weakness. It is high time they understood otherwise.
It is also high time the Israelis understood otherwise. It is time the Israelis understood that they should take their own laments at Palestinian intransigence, duplicity, and genocidal incitement seriously. It is also time the Israelis understood just what the exercise of sovereignty entails. They are no longer strangers in a strange land, but like the Jews of old, they have returned home to a land that is indissolubly linked with their existence. As the sovereign power in their own land they have a duty to protect and safeguard it and the persons who reside within its borders. If their neighbors seek to destroy them, they are duty bound to defend themselves as the U.S. would be if Canada started rocketing the populations of Vermont and Michigan.
War is not pleasant but the alternative is suicide. It's that simple. The Arabs have literally been allowed to get away with murder. No longer. This is what "never again" means: Jews having and using the means to defend themselves, and by themselves if it comes to that. Blowing up the 'Al-Aksa mosque would be a massively powerful first blow to the enemy without loss of life. No less of a gesture would serve notice to the Arabs that they ought to sue for peace or suffer the consequences, and that the consequences will be disastrous. It would also serve notice to the Jews that they are no longer court Jews, that Zionism is a project that remains to be completed, and that failure to do so will entail the disappearance of the Jewish people Zionism was supposed to prevent.

Archeologist: Ancient cistern proves location of Second Temple
An Israeli archeologist said Wednesday that he has pinpointed the exact location of the Second Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount.
The site identified by Hebrew University archeologist Prof. Joseph Patrich, based on the study of a large underground cistern on the Temple Mount and passages from the Mishna, places the Temple and its corresponding courtyards, chambers and gates in a more southeasterly and diagonal frame of reference compared to previous studies.
Patrich based his research, which is about to be published, on a study of a large underground cistern on the Temple Mount that was mapped by British engineer Sir Charles Wilson in 1866 on behalf of the Palestine Exploration Fund, along with passages from the Mishna.
The giant cistern, 4.5 meters wide and 54 meters long, lay near the southeastern corner of the upper platform of the Temple Mount. Examining the location and configuration of the cistern together with descriptions of the daily rite in the Temple and its surroundings found in the Mishna, Patrich said that this cistern is the only one found on the Temple Mount that can tie in with the ancient rabbinic text describing elements involved in the daily purification and sacrificial duties carried out by the priests on the altar in the Temple courtyard.
On this basis, he says, one can reconstruct the placement of a large basin that was used by the priests for their ritual washing, with the water being drawn by a waterwheel mechanism from the cistern.
After this purification, the priests ascended the nearby ramp to the sacrificial altar.
By thus locating the laver, the water wheel, the ramp and the altar, one can then finally map, again in coordination with the Mishna, the alignment of the Temple itself and its gates and chambers, he said.
These considerations led Patrich to place the Second Temple further to the east and south than earlier thought, and at a southeasterly angle relative to the eastern wall of the Temple Mount, and not perpendicular to it, as earlier assumed.
Patrich said that his research indicates that the rock over which the Dome of the Rock was built in the 7th century CE is actually outside the confines of the Temple.
The rock is believed to be the place at which the binding of Isaac took place, while Muslims consider it to be the spot from which Muhammad ascended to heaven.
The Temple Mount is Judaism's holiest site as the ancient compound where the two Jewish Temples stood, and is Islam's third holiest site after Mecca and Medina.
