Olmert Hastens Redemption

The present Israeli Prime Minister seems to be taking steps which will hasten Redemption. While this clearly is not his intention, the fact that Mr. Olmert is taking far reaching steps which, logically, can only lead to the destruction of the Jewish State, he will be forcing Supernatural intervention as the only way to save us from self-destruction.

This is not a pleasant observation, nor a positive one. If G-d is forced to intervene to save us from ourselves, it will be a painful intervention.

“Therefore say unto the House of Israel, thus saith the Almighty G-d; Not for your sake do I do this, O House of Israel, but for My Holy Name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations...” Ezekiel 36:23

Olmert has failed to prepare a decisive plan to disarm Iran as it develops a nuclear program and declares its intention to destroy Israel. He has refused to destroy the PLO ability to launch Kassams into Israel from the Gaza Strip. He is planning a pre emptive release of PLO terrorists with no offer to receive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in return. He is giving the PLO over 100 million NIS as well as arms and ammunition as a “good will” gesture. In effect he has given the PLO everything except his own neck.

There can be no doubt that, should such policies be enacted by any other country, that country would not last for two weeks. It is a policy of self-destruction which clearly helps our enemies in their efforts to destroy us. It is a wonder that such a leader as Olmert is allowed to remain in power. It would seem that our entire government has a death wish for the country it was elected to protect!

While our prophets of old have warned us that the nations of the world will gather against the tiny Jewish State in a futile effort to destroy us, the amount of suffering we will have to endure is dependent upon how we conduct ourselves in these days of challenge. If we express a greater fear of our enemies than for our Creator our punishment will be considerable. If, on the other hand, we face the challenge with genuine faith in our Creator by taking bold steps to destroy our enemies and by refusing to back down to their demands, much of the coming disasters can be averted.

Rather than giving money and arms to the PLO, we should destroy it physically and take back all Jewish Lands we have handed to them. Rather than trying to negotiate for the release of our captives, we should simply declare that if they are not returned within 48 hours we will begin to execute PLO prisoners, one every day, until our captives are returned. Rather than hope that the USA will find a way to control Iran, the IDF should be instructed to immediately plan and execute an operation to destroy its nuclear ability. And rather than hope that the USA will move its embassy to Jerusalem, Israel should move her embassy from Washington to Philadelphia with a promise to return as soon as the USA moves her embassy to Jerusalem.

Self respect and self defense should be top priorities in any normal country. In Israel the only priority above these is our expression of complete faith in the Living G-d of Israel. For only by such expression of genuine faith will we be able to enact the other priorities. Since, until now, our leadership has failed to express such faith, our G-d has given us a hapless leader who is taking very real steps to place Israel in dire danger. It will only be in reaction to clear and obvious threat to our very existence that our leaders will be motivated to at long last turn to G-d. When our leadership and all of our people really feel that G-d is our only hope and we turn to Him in desperation, that is when true redemption will begin.
