Bridge Day Festival in West Virginia

New River Gorge Bridge, WV

New River Gorge Bridge Day™ 2007
West Virginia's largest one-day festival celebrates 29 years from the first Bridge Walk!

Bridge Day Home

I'm happy to have been able to enjoy Bridge Day this year in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. It was a beautiful Sabbath day and the Fall colors were in full force. I walked the entire length of the bridge and was thinking I should contact Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, and suggest such a day for us here in Toledo, Ohio with our new bridge, The Veterans' Glass City Skyway - but preferably for a Sunday stroll.

Close Affirmative Action/Contract Compliance Offices Nationwide

March 7, 2007 | City of Toledo
Mayor fires aide who won't back cuts
Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner yesterday fired Perlean Griffin, executive director of the city's Office of Affirmative Action/Contract Compliance, over her refusal to support his downgrading of the office.

Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner is working hard to cut Toledo's budget deficit. The "Affirmative Action/Contract Compliance" is an office Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner wants to close. It should have never been opened in the first place. Clearly it was not necessary and too expensive, as other departments are capable of enforcing the law and hearing any grievances, real or imagined. If some feel they need a watchdog group, let them go open their own office at their expense.

Perlean Griffin, who was in charge of Toledo's racist
"Affirmative Action/Contract Compliance" office since 1988, wasted $70,000 a year of taxpayer's money, as far as I am concerned. Yet she isn't grateful but has obstructed progress and hindered the mayor's efforts to save Toledo money, so he fired her. She was even offered the job of commissioner!

It's past time cities nationwide close such politically correct offices. They're just not right.
