Update on Shoaib Choudhury

"Shoaib Choudhury is fine and publishing his paper. He is frustrated, though, by the government's refusal to drop the phony charges despite the fact that its sole witness keeps refusing to show up; the court does not dismiss the case but continues it. He and I are both concerned that current US policies in South Asia are sending the wrong message to the Bangladeshi government, in effect encouraging it to take no action on this and other human rights issues, believing that the US will give it what it wants without any action. Of course, at the end of the day, this is a false hope, as Americans remain united on these issues. In the meantime, though, it is very discouraging for anti-jihadis everywhere."
